“If I had influence with the good fairy … I should ask that her gift to each child in the world be a sense of wonder so indestructible that it would last throughout life… If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder without any such gift from the fairies, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement, and the mystery of the world we live in.”

Rachel Carson, A Sense of Wonder 1956

“Bringing a sense of wonder back to nature”

This is a beautifully illustrated guide, which I loved reading with my children. We’ve used it on our nature walks, coming back with sticky weed and dandelions everywhere on one occasion. The content has really stimulated the kids’ imagination and curiosity in relation to nature. I’ve also found it interesting to learn more about these unique plants that we know and love. The recipes related to each plant are a stroke of genius and I’m sure will make our wild walks even more fruitful in the coming months.

“An invitation to become more curious”

This thoughtful book encourages us to slow down, observe more closely, and appreciate the beauty and knowledge hidden in everyday nature. What my 10 year old appreciated most is how it teaches her to observe nature with fresh eyes. It encourages both children and adults to ask questions, pay attention to details, and develop a deeper connection with the world around them.

“Low on Wonder?! Look no further!”

This is a wondrous and joyful read with a fun sprinkle of mischief! My dandelion clock blowing, sticky weed throwing, blackberry picking, custard cream eating and bus stop waiting will be forever inspired! May we never lose the wonder!
